thanks to Julio, we had a chance to brainstorm as a club

i appreciate Lynn’s comments to keep the mission of a toastmaster’s club the mission and not to divert our energies or direction

with all that in mind here are some of the practicle things we can do as a club to be more green:

1. bring a ceramic cup on the third tuesday (continental breakfast/guest day)
2. recycle ribbons
3. purchase green office supplies for the club
4. recycle paper from meetings (John Concannon has already started)
5. encourage TI to go green, print less
6. car pool
7. print larger agendas and less quantity

several of our members have done speeches on taking better care of the earth; it is a re-occuring theme.  the idea of adopting a green initiative as a club was received at the december 3rd meeting.  so join me in brainstorming in ways we can move forward with this as a club project…

my initial ideas

• having several members ready to speak on the topic
• making the community aware that we are willing to present to groups
• have a non-word of the day contest to come up with a name for our green initiative
• post ideas on how we can be more green on a section of our website – ideas, reminders, etc.
• take on a ‘hands on’ project, like adopt a highway or similar
• encourage reuse of stuff -vs- filling the land fills; make people more aware of sharing websites
